At the August 11th council meeting I put forward a motion that passed unanimously about Waste diversion for large events on municipal property. Gaby Dee, who you may know as a volunteer diverting waste at the Memorial Centre Farmers’ Market, delegated on the motion showing the success of diverting waste at large events like the Skeleton Parks Arts Festival, Rib and Craft Beer Fest, and Art Fest. She offers the services for free and this motion will look at how we can best divert waste at large events held on City property by tying a waste diversion plan to the permit.
