Williamsville Renewal Construction Has Begun
Princess Street is closed between Division Street and Frontenac Street, effective April 20.
Businesses remain open and need your support during this time of disruption as they are experiencing less visitors.
The Road is fully closed between Division and University. Local traffic remains open for the remainder between University and Frontenac. See the map below.

Project Information
Phase one of the the Williamsville renewal project is set to begin on Monday April 20th. Phase 1 of the construction will be from Division Street to Frontenac Street. The contract has been awarded to R.W. Tomlinson Ltd and this phase is expected to be completed for Winter 2026. Phase 2 will start in early Spring 2027.
These are the things to expect once the project is completed.
- Reconstructed sidewalks, curbs, and pedestrian crossings including a new signalized crossing at Frontenac Street
- New cycle tracks along Princess Street
- Upgraded transit stops and shelters
- Improved accessibility at road crossings
- Repaved roadways
- Separation of combined sewers and replacement sanitary services
- New watermain with service replacements
- Upgraded Kingston Hydro infrastructure
With all the changes that have happened over the years on Princess Street in Williamsville, it is nice to finally see this project move forward with the much-needed infrastructure upgrades. Once complete, this will drastically improve the quality of life in our neighbourhood. I am especially proud that we were able to include proper cycling infrastructure to complement the enhanced pedestrian space.
